That was the range of reaction reported by Bishop Ralph Spence and Dean Peter Wall of the diocese of Niagara after Dean Wall married a lesbian couple last August at Christ's Church Cathedral in Hamilton, Ontario.

The Diocese of Toronto has embarked on a year-long process to discuss the issue of same-gender blessings. The diocese’s Synod, its governing body, approved the process at a meeting in Toronto on November 21.

The diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island has elected a well-known priest and social justice advocate as its suffragan, or assistant, bishop. Susan Moxley is the diocese's first female bishop and only the third woman ever to be elected to Canada's house of 42 active bishops.

The Chairman of the Anglican Communion in New Westminster (ACiNW) - a coalition of 11 parishes that oppose the Diocese’s decision to bless same-sex unions - has written to the Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada thanking the House of Bishops for their search “for a resolution of the problem we are experiencing in the Diocese of New Westminster”.
