(ACNS) Bishop Arthur Malcolm, the Chair of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Anglican Council (NATSIAC) has called on Church members to take an active part in the Week of Prayer for Reconciliation, from May 27th to 3rd June.
Bishop Malcolm said he hoped people would pray that "the spirit of reconciliation which we experienced in our General Synod will extend to the whole Australian community."
"The Spirit of God was felt throughout all the General Synod discussions and the final service with the repentance and foot washing was a powerful symbol of all of us being servants of God and servants to each other," he said. He said he hoped diocesan synods would endorse General Synod's move to give indigenous people "as of right" membership for General Synod.
