Archbishop of Canterbury welcomes 'First Steps' of the review of the See of Canterbury
I am grateful for the dedicated and thorough manner in which Lord Hurd and his colleagues have embarked upon this task.
As the review team point out, this document is a necessary first step along the road.
Their work is independent and while I shall study their consultation paper carefully and with interest, it will be right to await the review's own considered conclusions and recommendations in due course.
I set up this review because I judged it was an opportune moment to take a measured look at the future development of the office of Archbishop of Canterbury in a changing world.
I remain convinced that the decision was both timely and correct.
