[Algoma Anglican] After ten years as President and Provost of Thorneloe University, the Rev. Dr. Don Thompson has resigned to take up a position as General Secretary of the world-wide body of Anglican Universities and Colleges (Colleges and Universities of the Anglican Communion).
This body includes about 130 colleges and universities, and is based in New York City. Thompson will begin some of the corresponding secretary role of this position as of the new year, while still in his current position. He will leave Thorneloe and re-locate to New York by end of winter term.
During his time in Algoma, Thompson has served the diocese in a number of ways. Key among these has been his work with the Postulancy Commission, and the development of the Northern Theological Institute and the Bachelor of Theology degree. He has also served on the Doctrine, Worship and Ministry Committee, and been a delegate to Provincial Synod.
Dr Thompson and his wife, Susan, have been active members of the Church of the Epiphany in Sudbury, where he is an honorary assistant.
