Trainers offer experience and
in-depth knowledge of the Episcopal Children's Curriculum
and Episcopal Curriculum for Youth

Harrisonburg, PA - Morehouse Publishing and The Centre for the Ministry of Teaching at Virginia Theological Seminary have assembled a group of 14 experienced Christian educators to provide training for users of The Episcopal Children's Curriculum (ECC) and Episcopal Curriculum for Youth.

ECC and ECY were developed by Episcopal educators specifically for use in Episcopal congregations. The programs are rooted in scripture and church traditions, and incorporate material from the Bible, The Book of Common Prayer, and The hymnal 1982 that introduce children to the Christian faith in an Episcopal context.

The trainers are located throughout most of the United States and are available to conduct training workshops for churches who are evaluating ECC and ECY for the first time, as well as those that are already using the curriculum in their church school programs.

"Conducting a workshop with an ECC/ECY trainer will enhance a church's investment in their church school curriculum, their teachers and the children they work with." Says Leslie Merrell, vice President of Product Development for Morehouse.

The trainers recently took part in a "train the trainers" workshop at The Centre for the Ministry of Teaching in Virginia to review updates made to ECC for the fall 2001 Church School year. The revised guides are the foundation for the curriculum, and have been re-written for 2001 with a greater emphasis on multi-sensory learning, storytelling and family involvement, according to Amelia Gearey, editor of Episcopal Children's Curriculum and Episcopal Curriculum for Youth.

"Children learn in many different ways," Gearey noted. "Our goal in updating the materials was to maintain ECC's rich Episcopal foundation and give teachers more options for helping children learn and retain important concepts."

Churches interested in scheduling an ECC/ECY workshop should call Morehouse Publishing at (800) 877-0112 for the name of the ECC/ECY workshop leader in their region. Please see attached for listing of ECC/ECY trainers with facts and information.
