National Public Radio host Diane Rehm will be a guest speaker at a special service for Episcopal AIDS Ministry (EAM) on Tuesday, October 9th. "I am honored to be in Miami to celebrate the ministry of Jerry Anderson and the work of EAM," said Diane Rehm. "For the last 17 years, Jerry has been in the forefront of the spiritual care of people with AIDS. His steadfast love for all people is a testament to his faith."
Following the service there will be a reception welcoming The Rev. Marilyn Usher Harding as the new director of EAM and an opportunity to meet Diane Rehm personally.
The Rev. Jerry Anderson has served as director of Episcopal AIDS Ministry since 1996 and is leaving South Florida for parish ministry in California. His ministry has touched many lives in South Florida. Through his Tuesday evening Healing Services and the "laying on of hands," he has helped thousands of people with AIDS and the grieving deal with the loss of loved ones.
Diane Rehm has been a supporter of Jerry's ministry since they first met in Washington, DC in late 1970's. "Diane has been there since day one in the battle to fight AIDS," said Jerry Anderson. For more than 20 years, Diane Rehm has been on air with The Diane Rehm Show and has offered NPR listeners thoughtful and lively conversations on an enormous array of topics with many of the most distinguished people of our times.
