New York, NY- In light of events on September 11th and the ensuing conflict, the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, and the Blessing Way Foundation are jointly sponsoring the forum, "Fundamentalism: Understanding The Religious and Political Issues". People from all faith communities around the world will have the opportunity to view this live video webcast at http://www.ECTN.org/. Featured speakers will include well-known religion scholars, including Karen Armstrong, Feisal Abdul Rauf, Sussana Heschel and the Rev. Jim Wallis. They will discuss the political and religious roots of fundamentalism and violence in the three Abrahamic traditions and will explore the interpretations of Islam and terrorism.

Panelists:

  • Karen Armstrong: Author of the bestselling, A History of God. Armstrong is one of the foremost commentators on religious affairs in England and the United States.
  • Feisal Abdul Rauf: Teacher, lecturer and author of Islam: A Search for Meaning. He is a leader for the Muslim community.
  • Sussana Heschel: Author and associate professor of religion. The Revd Jim Wallis: Founder and editor of Sojourners Magazine.
