New woman bishop in Canada

It is with joy that Canada sends you the news that the Reverend Canon Dr. Linda Nicholls has been elected Bishop Suffragan for the Diocese of Toronto. She will be consecrated on 2 February 2008.

A brief history:

1977 to 1982 Linda was a teacher of music and mathematics at the Woodstock International Christian School, Mussoorie, India.

She was ordained to the priesthood in 1986.

1986 to 2005 she was in parish ministry and served on many committees.

2005 to the present: She is on staff at the Anglican Church of Canada National Church House as Coordinator for Dialogue (Ethics, Interfaith Relations, and Congregational Development), Faith, Worship and Ministry Department.
