A group of theologians met at Lambeth Palace, London in December to review and discuss Anglican involvement in Christian dialogue and encounter with other faiths, and also to remember and celebrate the immense contribution of Bishop Kenneth Cragg.  The symposium was arranged by Clare Amos, formerly Director of Theological Studies at the Anglican Communion Office, Rana Khan, NIFCON’s Administrator, and David Thomas, Professor of Christianity and Islam at the University of Birmingham, UK, on behalf of NIFCON (The Anglican Communion Network for Inter-faith Concerns).

The papers explored the theme  The Presence of Faith: a century of Anglican Engagement with World Religions.  Some fifty participants listened and responded to twenty different papers read by contributors from Australia, India, Middle East, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, UK, USA and more.  

The abstracts of the papers are available on the NIFCON website here and it is expected that the papers will be published in due course.

The main themes covered in the papers were:

1.  The history of Anglican involvement in other faiths over the last 100 years;
2. Theological reflection on the motivation for this involvement and assessment of it;
3. The lived experience  and involvement of Anglicans present and past  in various parts of the world in relation to other faiths.
