Ithaca, New York – On the first anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Conn., the Episcopal Peace Fellowship (EPF) once again calls for an end to the gun violence sadly rampant throughout the United States.
"Fresh from staging several Make a Noise about gun violence events throughout our country in September, EPF will stage a memorial vigil – Protect Children, Not Guns! – at the NRA headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia, on the morning of December 14," said the Rev. Allison Liles, EPF executive director.
"Twenty young children and six educators were slaughtered by 154 bullets – fired in just five minutes. This obscenity has to stop," said the Rev. Allison Liles, who took part in the national vigil for all victims of gun violence at the Washington National Cathedral on December 12.
"I felt a strong sense of commitment during the Cathedral Vigil to work even harder to persuade the US Congress to finally adopt meaningful and sensible gun control legislation when they return to Washington in January," the Rev. Allison Liles said.
"Please listen to what the Rev. Roger Paynter preached two days after the Newtown killings at the First Baptist Church in Austin, Texas [Click Here to listen] and then act on it," she said.
