Shortly before the Ukrainian Parliament voted for changes and President Viktor Yanukovych left his home and office the group of English speaking Christians had reported that they were safe, although the building used for their Sunday services. Bishop David Hamid had contacted the church to assure them of the prayers of fellow Christians across Europe.

Today, Monday, when concerns and efforts turn towards the future establishment and stability of the country, Churchwarden Thamarai Pandian wrote; “Thanks for your Prayers & encouragement. The protesters have been near our Church for last 3 months, as you are aware that we are located opposite to the President’s office. Our Church has been the First Aid center for both Police & Public. We have been having our regular worship every Sunday as the situation was calm except on 18,19 & 20thFeb. All members of the congregation are fine.”

He adds; “Please pray for a peaceful and lasting settlement”

Bishop David responded “I have heard that prayers have been lifted up, and will continue to be lifted up, across the diocese, for the people of the Ukraine, and for a peaceful and lasting settlement. Particularly we must pray for wise and constructive support from outside, from the EU and from Russia. May you know God's presence at this unsettling time.”
