Thankful for the release of Malay and Iban Bibles seized from its premises early this year, the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) wants no repeat of the incident, its president, Bishop Datuk Ng Moon Heng, said in a statement today.
The BSM was "content" now that the Bibles had been released and handed over to Sarawak churches, where the Bibles "had been designated for, in the first place".
"Under the arrangement that was arrived at, these Bibles were delivered to the Association of Churches of Sarawak (ACS) for use in Sarawak. As these Bibles had been designated for delivery to Sarawak… we are content with this particular solution for this instance," he said in a brief statement.
Expressing thanks to the Sultan of Selangor for his involvement, BSM said it was grateful for the ruler's "personal involvement in arriving at this resolution".
The Selangor Islamic Department (Jais) on November 14 returned the Bibles it had seized from BSM to ACS in a ceremony witnessed by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and by Menteri Besar Azmin Ali at the Istana Alam Shah.
