Nigeria: Anglican Primate joins call for credible, peaceful polls

The National Peace Committee for the 2015 General Elections, headed by former [Nigerian] Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar, yesterday met behind closed doors with President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.

Members of the committee in attendance included the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar; John Cardinal Onaiyekan; Commodore Ebitu Ukiwe; Metropolitan & Primate of all Nigeria & Bishop of Abuja, The Most Revd Nicholas Okoh; and Bishop Mathhew Hassan Kukah, among others.

Addressing State House journalists, Abubakar said his committee was trying to get commitments to ensure that all politicians and their followers allow the elections to be free, fair and peaceful.
