Archbishop welcomes World Meeting of Families announcement

The Anglican Archbishop of Dublin and Glendalough, Michael Jackson, has welcomed the announcement by the Vatican this morning that the Roman Catholic Church’s next World Meeting of Families will be held in Dublin in 2018. It will be the ninth such meeting to have taken place – the last one was in Philadelphia in 2015.

Irish Catholics and Anglicans unite for Saint Patrick's Day service

The Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic Archbishops of Dublin joined the Choirs of Christ Church Cathedral and the Girls’ Choir of St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral, took part in a united service on the eve of St Patrick’s Day to convey a powerful message of Christian unity. The service, on Wednesday evening this week, united the choirs’ voices united for “a magnificent and historic Festal Choral Evensong.”

Easter returns to Dublin Cathedral

Dublin’s Christ Church Cathedral will hold an Easter Day service after all, following discussions between diocesan officials, the government, and the Irish police service. It had been announced that security around commemorations of the centenary of the Easter Rising would make the service impossible. Six city centre churches will remain closed.

Safety fears force Easter Sunday closure of Dublin churches

Dublin’s Anglican Cathedral and six city centre churches are being forced to close on Easter Sunday as a result of a safety cordon being put in place by security officials because of events being held to mark the centenary of the Easter Rising, which eventually paved the way for the creation of an independent Irish nation.

Dublin and Jerusalem Anglicans to journey together

The Archbishops of Dublin and Jerusalem have signed an accord which will see the people of their respective dioceses “journey together as brothers and sisters in Christ on a common pilgrimage of faith and discipleship.” The Epiphany Agreement establishes an official link between the diocese of Jerusalem and the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough.
