"The capacity of the ecumenical movement to respond to the challenges of today's world depends to a large extent on more creative and future-oriented forms of co-operation and networking," said World Council of Churches (WCC) general secretary Rev. Dr Samuel Kobia today. Kobia was speaking at the first assembly of ACT Development, a new alliance of churches and related organizations working on development.

Launching of the Strategic PlanThe second CAPA HIV/AIDS TB & MALARIA Strategic Plan is due to be launched on February 22 2007 at the Panafric Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya by the CAPA Chairman and the Primate of All Nigeria Archbishop Peter Akinola. Those expected at the launch are CAPA Primates, CAPA Bishops, CAPA HIV/AIDS Board Members, CAPA HIV/AIDS Provincial Coordinators. Others invited to the launch are Church Leaders, Government Leaders, Diplomats, NGOs and the media, friends and partners. The launch is to be held at the Pan Afric Hotel between 11.00a.m and 1.00p.m.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, is calling for a commission of enquiry into the Penal Justice system which, he says is failing both offenders and victims because it can't cope with the primary need to change the behaviour of those convicted.
