The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams is to visit China this autumn. The visit is at the invitation of the senior leadership of the post-denominational Protestant Churches in China.

As I write, the UN continues its deliberations about what kind of resolution might be possible to support and effect a ceasefire in Lebanon. The optimistic gloss is that this could be achieved 'in a few days', though the organisation of an international peacekeeping force is likely to take several weeks.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams is to welcome the Chief Rabbinate of Israel to Lambeth Palace in September. Chief Rabbis Amar and Metzger will travel to London for a special meeting with Dr Williams, during which a joint declaration will be signed, establishing a new joint dialogue process.
