Primates support ecumenical moves over Easter

The Primates of the Anglican Communion have agreed to support moves by the Coptic Pope to unify and fix the date of Easter, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, said last week at the end of the Primates Meeting in Canterbury Cathedral.

Statement from Primates 2016

Today the Primates agreed how they would walk together in the grace and love of Christ. This agreement acknowledges the significant distance that remains but confirms their unanimous commitment to walk together. The Primates regret that it appears that this document has been leaked in advance of their communiqué tomorrow. In order to avoid speculation the document is being released in full.

Seafarers' mission "horrified" at anti-piracy convictions

The international Anglican mission agency which supports seafarers through missions in 260 ports around the world, has spoken out against the conviction of 35 crewmen of the anti-piracy ship MV Seaman Guard Ohio by a court in India for carrying illegal arms. The Mission to Seafarers say that the crew were entitled to do so under international law.

WCC sends "warm greetings" and "heartfelt prayers" to Anglican Primates

The general secretary of the World Council of Churches, the Revd Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, has sent a message to the Anglican Primates meeting this week in Canterbury, offering them his “warm greetings” and assuring them of his “heartfelt prayers”.
