Church of Uganda Consecrates Two Bishops

On Sunday, 2nd September 2007, the Most Rev. Henry Luke Orombi, Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, and the House of Bishops consecrated two Bishops at St. James Cathedral, Mbarara. More than 10,000 people, including the Prime Minister of Uganda, attended the colourful and lively five-hour ceremony.

The Most Revd Henry Luke Orombi, Archbishop of Uganda, with the consent of the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda, given in December 2006 and reaffirmed today, will consecrate the Revd John A.M. Guernsey, an American priest canonically resident in North Kigezi Diocese, Church of Uganda, as a Bishop in the Church of Uganda.

On 15th March 2006, I and all the people of Uganda woke up to read in The New Vision that Christopher Ssenyonjo, the second Bishop of West Buganda Diocese, had a new 'Archbishop called Howard' in America and had formed a new denomination called the Charismatic Church of Uganda, and had consecrated a bishop.
