Queen breaks with tradition for Royal Maundy in her 90th year

Queen Elizabeth II has today taken part in the traditional Royal Maundy service but in a break from the usual tradition of visiting a different cathedral each year and selecting recipients from the local dioceses; the Queen held the ceremony in Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel and the elderly recipients were selected from throughout England.

Brussels pro-cathedral's Chrism Eucharist an "act of defiance" against terror attacks

A scheduled Chrism Mass at the Diocese in Europe’s pro-cathedral in Brussels went ahead this afternoon in an “act of defiance” against the terrorists who killed at least 34 people and injured 198 more in a series of bomb attacks in the city’s airport and a metro station.

Archbishop of Canterbury announces new Lambeth Awards

Two academic lawyers who helped to secure the legal status of the Church of England in Italy are amongst a group of people to be recognised by the Archbishop of Canterbury for services to the Anglican Communion. The award of the new Cross of St Augustine award to Professor Salvatore Bordonali and Professor Fabiano Di Prima was announced today alongside a host of other new Lambeth Awards.

Theological resources on persecution published for ACC-16

A draft report detailing theological resources for times of persecution has been published by the Anglican Inter Faith Network. The document, “Out of the Depths – Hope in a time of suffering” is “an Anglican contribution to ecumenical engagement” and will be discussed during next month’s meeting of the Anglican Consultative Council in Lusaka.
