The Vatican Cricket Team, the St Peter’s XI, will again lock horns with the Archbishop of Canterbury’s XI later this year in Canterbury in the third of what has become an annual cricket match between the two sides. They will then be joined by a Muslim XI for a triangular T20 match at Edgbaston.

Around 200 Christians, Muslims and Hindus gathered yesterday (Sunday) at the site of last weekend’s horrific Easter Day bomb attack for a united act of solidarity and sympathy for the victims of the attack; as the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby wrote that church leaders need to go “beyond condemnation” of such terror attacks.

The first recipients of a new set of non-academic awards for outstanding service to the church were recognised in a ceremony at Lambeth Palace yesterday. Archbishop Justin Welby gave out the new awards, which recognise outstanding service in different fields, including those of Archbishop Justin’s ministry priorities.

Eight churches and religious organisations jointly declared their commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Call to Action 48 in a press conference on Parliament Hill on 30 March. This call urges the faith community to implement the principles, norms and standards of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as a framework for reconciliation.

Two academic lawyers who helped to secure the legal status of the Church of England in Italy are amongst a group of people to be recognised by the Archbishop of Canterbury for services to the Anglican Communion. The award of the new Cross of St Augustine award to Professor Salvatore Bordonali and Professor Fabiano Di Prima was announced today alongside a host of other new Lambeth Awards.
